Access Credit Union (“ACU”) talking amalgamation with larger Crosstown Civic Credit Union rival
Story link:
https://pembinavalleyonline.com/local/n … edit-union
Second story, with commentary:
https://pembinavalleyonline.com/local/a … age-values
I suspect “Access Credit Union” will be the name of the combined credit union, but what will this mean to be AcceleRate Financial, and might Access Credit Union non-Manitoba residents be migrated to AcceleRate?

Interesting- I have a small amount of money in Access, so I’ll let everyone know if they email me any info.

Yeah, I remembered you and @titaniumtux used ACU, so that’s why I tagged you.
Will you vote in favour of the merger, assuming they use online voting?

Doug

I’ve dealt with CrosstownCivic and Accelerate and left for their archaic processes (deposit slips and withdrawal slips for any teller transaction.. Still in 2018)
I’m currently with Access and am happy with them

I probably won’t vote, since I don’t really understand the implications for me. Do you think it will benefit @titaniumtux and I?

Using Access as an OOP member. Don’t know what the future holds, but hope I keep the membership.

Yeah, I wouldn’t mind if they kept the AcceleRate Financial division under Access Credit Union, and still kept OOP memberships on Access Credit Union. One thing I hope they get rid of is that silly interest calculation and payment methodology (Crosstown Civic doesn’t use that), and just pay it monthly like 98% of financial institutions.
Cheers,
Doug

Crosstown Civic recently migrated to new online banking and core banking systems, so I suspect they’re on the same level as Access already.

It’s funny, I had an account with Accelerate but it became dormant and inactive and I can’t log into it anymore.
ACU flat out denied me when I tried to apply.
Maybe if I call Accelerate and try to get my account reactivated, it will later be migrated to ACU? Long shot but hey, why not.

Best to try and report back here.
Honestly @Poutinesauce unless you’ve been applying for other CU’s since Rosenort, Access would probably approve you by now, right? Hasn’t it been about six+ months yet?

Yes but I don’t care that much. I learned not to chase those who rejected me in life.
I suppose I will get my first interest money with Rosenort in a few days.

They pay out Dec 1st?
Btw @dmehus i signed up to B2B bank but made one mistake. Equifax verification was virtually flawless. Any questions about my subbies, I had answered selecting parent bank name, and it worked smoothly. But…I went to add Simplii as external via MD’s and it now prevents me from adding more! I guess can only add one at a time à la PayTM? Had I known, would have probably linked SCU instead.
Anyway, will pull funds from SCU using EQ this year again, then can eventually push to B2B.

The regulator doesn’t currently allow for online voting for amalgamation votes. The hope is that members will be able to vote in branch but that’s a discussion still to be had.

I don’t think it’s a regulatory thing, as I’ve voted online with Sunova Credit Union.

Doug

For directors that has been the norm for a couple years now, but for mergers/amalgamations I’m fairly certain it still requires an in person meeting or at least a simulcast meeting across several locations. The intention appears to be ensuring everyone hears everyone else’s comments, concerns, objections, etc.

You can only link one at a time to B2B, maximum of 4. If you want to delete one to add another, you have to phone customer service to delete it.

Max four? Whelp. Then wishlist is Simplii, EQ, then I’ll figure out the other two later. SCU won’t link in time for December pull.
Any DP’s on whether pulling from B2B Bank from EQ on a Friday withhraws B2B Side on the Monday?

My hunch is “yes,” provided Friday pull was before 5-6 pm Eastern time (2-3 pm my time).

4 linked accounts is low, but it’s not completely terrible. It’s better than Tangerine’s 3. You can always just link one account per FI, which would allow 4 FIs to be linked. Also, with e-Transfers, this negates this downside somewhat since those can be used.
Cheers,
Doug
