Troubleshooting Flickering Video – TV

Flickering video may occur as a side effect of a feature, an issue with a certain video/input, or in rare cases there may be an issue with the TV. Start by choosing your TV type from the images below, then follow some troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue.

NOTE:

Before troubleshooting, please make sure your firmware is up to date. For assistance updating your firmware, visit Updating Your Firmware.

What type of TV do you have?

Press the
Smart

button on your remote, then click on the image below that matches your screen. (webOS and webOS 2.0 have a subtle difference in the top-right, as shown in the images below)

NOTE:
If you do not have a Smart Button, choose HDTV.

    Picture Test Instructions (webOS)

    The
    Picture Test
    option will display a test image on the TV, and you will decide if it is displayed correctly. To access the
    Picture Test:

    1. Does the image flicker during the Picture Test?

      (If your TV doesn’t have a Picture Test, choose
      Yes)

    2. First, try to adjust the
      Energy Saving
      setting.

      1. Go to the
        Picture
        menu (Settings
        >
        Advanced
        >
        Picture).

      2. Select the
        Energy Saving
        option.

      3. Set
        Energy Saving

        Off.

      Note:
      Turning off energy saving will cause the TV to consume more power.

      Is the picture still flickering?

    3. First, try to adjust the
      Energy Saving
      setting.
